Your Extra Pounds Don't Define You

All of us want to stay in great shape. We strive to keep ourselves as healthy as we possibly can, and therefore fitness becomes an important part of our lives. Those are healthy approaches to life -- nutritious meals, pleasurable walks, and harmonious relationships. Then there is the other side of our routine, and that one gravitates around our constant struggle to live a meaningful existence. We want everything to look perfect, including ourselves. When that fails to happen (at least as in how we imagine perfection to be), we begin to dislike our surroundings and ourselves. Each extra pound in our body is like a giant scream that says, You're ugly -- very ugly -- and everybody can see that! It's quite a tragedy to think that way, indeed one of life's biggest travesty! We can lose the extra pounds with a bit of dedication, with the little by little practice of self-discipline and above all unconditional love toward ourselves. On the other hand, self-acceptance requires a lot of more "work" than any physical training does. It requires true caring for our feelings -- sincere maintenance -- and self-respect no matter what. It is not about living in oblivion, or accepting mediocrity because we just can't help it. Love toward ourselves has to come from a place that's independent of public opinion. Of course, we all want to be liked, loved, respected, and admired. The thing is that none of it can be at the expense of living in misery to please other people. Let's love ourselves right now. Let's invite ourselves for a nice walk, a healthy and yet tasty snack after our joyful walk, and then proceed to live with genuine stamina.

Here is to you, your health, and everything that matters to you! :)
